Glazing is designed to let in light, and allow a view out. The transmitting properties of glass also allow solar energy to be transmitted, leading to heat build-up within internal spaces.
Solar control glass can come in two forms, body tinted glass, and solar control coatings. These glass types can be specified where there is a need to limit excessive heat build-up, reducing the need for air-conditioning, or from the use of blinds and other shading devices to block heat, as well as light.
The use of solar control glass types allows for larger expanses of glazing, whilst limiting the negative effects of heat build-up. Typical applications include large glazed areas in commercial, healthcare and education buildings, or conservatory roofs in residential settings.
Solar control glass, such as the SGG COOL-LITE range, can be combined with many other products for multi-functional glazing, noise reduction, decorative glass and enhanced safety and security.
